Why write under a pseudonym? If you claim to have an insight to what went on, it would lend more credibility to what you are writing if you disclosed you name, don’t you think? Otherwise, it just seems like an attempt to cash in on the notoriety of this event at its 1 year anniversary. Anyone can claim they knew Paulson, for example, if they don’t disclose their identity.

Actually, I didn’t knoiw Paulson and don’t claim to in the book. Senior nakers number in the thousand at a firm as large as Lehman. Senior bankers there for 20 years are a much smaller subset. I make it clear in the opening of the novel that I was not an executive committee member, and that I knew most of the key players to highly varying degrees. No one should buy this book if they think their going to get a thriller-like story of backroom secret deals. What I present is a personal account of what I know. After a couple of decades, any senior banker tends to know more than what is in the press. I also want to maintain the viability of working in finance. That and a reluctance to be known as “hey aren’t you the guy who wrote the Lehman book” are my reasons for anonymity. I expect a lot more comments that criticize my anonymity. (Was Joe Klein criticized for his initial anaonymity when he wrote Primary Colors – not sure). I expect a lot more comments that I am trying to cash in oppotunistically. I won’t be replying to a lot more of the comments because I’ll repeat myself. But after I wrote the first draft of the manuscript, my wife speed read it in a day, looked me in the eyes and said, “I can see why you had to write this.”
